Profiles and covers to house the run

Aluminium profiles give strip somewhere solid to sit, draw heat away from the tape and hide the dotting you get when LEDs are left bare. Our range includes trim, trimless and recessed profiles in 2m and 3m lengths, with covers from 1m to 3m in white, black, matt black, frosted and anodised finishes. Smaller covers around 15x5mm suit shallow under-cabinet work, while taller 16x22mm covers suit larger tape and diffuse it more evenly.

Covers come as trim and trimless options. Trim sits proud against a clean edge; trimless is built to plaster in flush so only the lit line shows. We also stock polycarbonate, ABS and steel parts alongside the aluminium, so you can match the housing to the surface it mounts onto.

Connectors for joins and direction changes

Cutting and rejoining strip is where most runs come unstuck. We stock solderless link connectors, linear connectors and main feed connectors for single colour, RGB, RGBW and COB tape, sized to common strip widths of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm. For turns, L-shape connectors handle a single bend, T-connectors split a feed two ways, and X connectors branch a run four ways.

Corners, clips and holders

For profile runs that need to follow a wall, 90 degree arc corner connectors and short crown corner pieces keep the angle tidy. Mounting clips are matched to specific profile shapes, including box, crown, recessed and angled types, so the channel clamps down without flexing. Steel strip holders in white, black and grey, in 5.3m and 10m lengths, give you a continuous run for longer installations such as kitchen, hallway and commercial lighting.

If you need to control the output as well as house it, we also stock in-line RGB controllers and extension leads to extend the cable between strip and supply. For anything that ties into fixed wiring, we recommend a qualified electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an aluminium profile for my LED strip?
It is not always essential, but it helps. A profile gives the tape a flat, solid surface to stick to, draws heat away so the LEDs run cooler, and protects the strip from knocks. Fitted with a cover, it also diffuses the light so you see a smoother line rather than individual dots. For under-cabinet, shelf and surface runs that are on show, a profile makes a noticeable difference to how the finished run looks.

How do I pick the right connector for my strip?
Match three things: the strip type, its width and your supply voltage. We stock connectors for single colour, RGB, RGBW and COB tape, in common widths of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm, and the strip itself is marked with its voltage. Choose a linear or link connector for a straight join, an L-shape for a single corner, a T-connector to split two ways, and an X connector to branch four ways. Check the width and pin count printed on your strip before ordering.

What is the difference between trim and trimless profiles?
Trim profiles have a visible edge or lip that sits against the surface, so the channel itself forms part of the finished look. Trimless and recessed profiles are designed to be plastered or built in flush, so the housing disappears into the ceiling or wall and only the lit line is visible. Trim is quicker to fit on an existing surface, while trimless suits new plasterwork where you want a clean, frameless result.

Can I turn a corner with LED strip in a profile?
Yes. For sharp 90 degree turns we stock arc corner connectors and short crown corner pieces that join two profile sections at an angle and carry the strip around the bend. For gentle curves, some flexible link connectors let the strip itself follow the line. Plan corners before cutting so each section ends at a join point, and keep a connector or short link at every direction change rather than forcing the tape round a tight angle.
