The indoor end of a door intercom

A door entry handset is the unit you answer from inside the home when someone calls at the door. It pairs with the panel at the entrance so you can speak to a caller and release the door without walking down. The audio handsets here cover that indoor role on a wired intercom setup.

The audio handset range

The handsets answer callers with clear audio over a wired link to the entry panel. They handle the everyday job of a home intercom: hear who is at the door, talk back, and let them in. As wired indoor units, they form part of a fixed door entry system rather than a standalone gadget.

Finishes for the hallway

Handsets come in white and gloss black, so the unit sits neatly against a hallway wall whether your fittings are pale or dark. The compact body keeps it unobtrusive by a door or on a landing.

Audio door entry, not video

These are audio handsets, which means you hear and speak to the caller rather than see them on a screen. That keeps the unit simple and the wall plate small, and it suits a home that wants the convenience of answering and releasing the door from inside without the added kit a video system needs.

Fitting and wiring

These handsets wire into a door entry system rather than plug in, so they suit a planned install or a like-for-like replacement on an existing setup. Because they connect into fixed wiring back to the entry panel, the work is best treated as part of the wider intercom rather than a quick swap. Fixed wiring should be connected by a qualified electrician.

Choosing a handset

Check that the handset matches the entry panel and wiring you already have, then pick the finish that fits the space. Where you are replacing a faulty unit, note the existing model so the new handset drops into the same setup. Free delivery worldwide on all orders over £99.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these handsets audio or video?
These are audio handsets. The Aperta range here handles voice calls between the door panel and the indoor handset, so you can speak with a caller and release the door without a screen.

What colours are available?
White and gloss black. Both are compact indoor units, so you can match the handset to your hallway decor or keep it discreet on the wall.

How is the handset powered?
It is a wired unit that connects into the door entry system wiring rather than running on batteries. Because this is fixed wiring, we recommend the install is carried out by a qualified electrician.

Is the handset suitable for outdoor mounting?
No. These are indoor handsets for the inside of the property. The outdoor call panel sits at the door, while the handset stays in a hallway, kitchen or other sheltered spot indoors.
