Table Runners

A table runner does what a full cloth does without hiding the table. It runs the length of the surface, protects the middle where dishes land, and gives a plain table a line to sit things along. We hand-pick cotton and woven, in plain colours and in patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should a table runner be?

Aim to overhang each end of the table by 15 to 30cm. A 180cm table takes a runner of roughly 210cm to 240cm. Measure the table rather than assuming a standard size.

Can I use a runner and placemats together?

Yes, and they are designed to work together. The runner takes the centre line and the serving dishes; the placemats take the settings on either side.

Will it slide when I move dishes across it?

A heavier weave lies flatter and resists sliding better than a light one. On a very smooth table a thin runner will move, so choose the heavier cloth if the table is used daily.

How do I get creases out?

Iron warm while slightly damp, and store it rolled rather than folded. A fold left in for months sets into a crease an iron will not fully lift.

What temperature should I wash it at?

Forty degrees, and treat spills before they dry. Keep bleach away from anything dyed.

Does it work on a sideboard as well as a dining table?

Yes, and it is one of the most useful places for one. The same overhang rule applies but the drop is usually shorter, as nobody is sitting at it.
