Who Pacific Lifestyle are

Pacific Lifestyle is a British supplier based in Huddersfield, designing and sourcing furniture, lighting and home accessories for the UK market. They are not a manufacturer of a single product type, and that is the point of them: the same eye runs through a table lamp, a wall mirror, a cushion and a cantilever parasol. For a room scheme that has to hold together, buying several pieces from one range removes most of the guesswork about whether a brass will match a brass or a beige will match a beige.

Lighting, and what the range is strongest at

Lighting is the largest part of the range and the part with the most choice. Table lamps run from small stoneware and glass bases to tall ceramic and metal columns, most of them offered with a matched shade or as a base you can pair yourself. Floor lamps cover tripod, column and arc forms. Pendants and shades round it out. The shade-and-base pairing is worth knowing about: where a base is sold on its own, the same range usually offers several shades sized for it, so a lamp can be built to a room rather than bought as a fixed pair.

Fire tables and fire pits run on gas, so they light instantly and stop when you turn them off. Garden furniture sets, cushions, outdoor rugs and planters complete it. Materials, and what each asks of you

Across the range the materials repeat, which makes them easy to plan around. Powder-coated aluminium and synthetic rattan need washing down and nothing else. Mango and acacia are solid hardwoods that will grey outdoors unless oiled, and indoors need only a wipe. Stoneware and ceramic lamp bases are heavy enough not to be knocked over and want no maintenance at all. Woven natural fibres such as seagrass and water hyacinth belong indoors or under cover, since they hold damp. Where a piece is made for both, the range usually says so in its name.

Buying more than one piece

The practical reason to buy several pieces from one range is that the colours are mixed to the same references. A beige from one Pacific Lifestyle cushion will sit with a beige from another, where two beiges from different suppliers rarely do. The same is true of the metals: an antique brass lamp and an antique brass mirror frame from the range will read as the same finish.
