What a globe bulb is

Globe bulbs are larger, fully round LED lamps made to be seen. The big spherical head is a feature in its own right, which is why they suit open pendants, bare-bulb fittings and lights with no shade. Where a standard bulb would look small in a wide holder, a globe fills the space and gives the fitting more presence.

Cap and sizes

Every globe here uses ES, the E27 Edison screw, which twists into a threaded holder. Sizes run G80, G95 and G125, the number giving the diameter in millimetres, with extra-large options again for fittings that can take them. A G80 sits close to a large household bulb, while a G125 reads as a clear feature. Pick the diameter to suit how prominent you want the bulb to look against the fitting.

Finishes

Gold and amber filament give a warm, vintage glow with the LED strands on show. Smokey and chrome tint the glass for a darker, more reflective look, while opal and clear glass keep things plain for everyday rooms. Some clear options carry a higher CRI for truer colour rendering where that matters, such as over a worktop or a dining table.

Colour temperature and dimming

Output runs from a soft 2200K, close to old filament lamps, through warm-toned 3000K up to a cleaner 4000K cool white. Brighter models are marked at 800 lumens. Both dimmable and non-dimmable versions are stocked, so choose a dimmable bulb if your fitting is on a dimmer and check the label before you order.

How to choose

Pick the diameter to match the scale of your fitting, then choose the finish for the look you want, filament gold and amber for warmth or opal and clear for a plainer light. Match the colour temperature to the room and the dimming to your switch. Free UK delivery over £99, worldwide shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does G80, G95 and G125 mean?

The number is the bulb diameter in millimetres, so G80 is 80mm across, G95 is 95mm and G125 is 125mm. Larger globes make more of a feature in open pendants and bare fittings, while the smaller G80 suits tighter shades and clustered lights.

Which globe bulbs can I dim?

Look for the bulbs labelled dimmable; we also stock non-dimmable versions of most shapes. Match a dimmable bulb with a compatible LED dimmer for smooth, flicker-free control. The gold filament 2200K bulbs dim down to a warm glow, which works well over dining tables and in living rooms.

What colour temperature should I pick?

2200K is a warm amber tone that flatters the visible filament, 3000K gives a soft warm white, and 4000K is a cooler, brighter neutral white. Warmer tones suit bedrooms and lounges; cooler ones are clearer for kitchens and workspaces.

Will a globe bulb fit my fitting?

Every globe bulb here uses the E27 screw cap, so check your fitting takes E27 first. Then allow room for the globe diameter, as the larger G125 needs more clearance inside a shade than a compact G80.
