The Plantation is a pineapple-shaped pendant light formed from diamond-cut optic glass enclosed in polished antique nickel metalwork. The glass body is moulded in a lattice pattern that refracts light through the clear material, while cast metal leaves at the crown and base frame the central form. Four E14 candle bulbs sit inside the glass on internal candle sleeves, providing light that reflects and disperses through the faceted surfaces.

Designed for dining rooms, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Plantation pairs decorative and functional lighting. The 840mm minimum drop suits standard ceiling heights, while the 2365mm maximum drop accommodates double-height spaces or suspended installation over staircases. The chain is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining table or 1800-2000mm above floor level in an entrance hall depending on ceiling height and intended visual impact.

The polished antique nickel finish combines the reflective qualities of polished metal with a warm grey-brown patina that softens the overall tone compared to bright chrome or polished brass. The 318mm diameter and 780mm body height give the fitting substantial presence without overwhelming rooms under 4m wide. Each section of the metalwork—the ceiling rose, chain links, crown leaves, decorative bands, and base leaves—carries the same finish, creating visual continuity from canopy to tip. The clear optic glass refracts both natural daylight and artificial light when the bulbs are lit, casting geometric shadow patterns onto nearby walls and ceilings.

What bulbs does the Plantation take?

The pendant takes four E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, up to 40W each. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for a traditional look, or clear filament-style LEDs to emphasise the pineapple glass form.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The chain length is adjustable during installation only. Once the pendant is wired and the ceiling rose is fitted, the drop cannot be changed without re-installing the fitting. The 1524mm chain allows drops between 840mm and 2365mm depending on how much chain is concealed inside the ceiling rose.

Is the pendant suitable for sloped ceilings?

The standard ceiling rose is designed for flat ceilings. Hinkley produces sloped ceiling adapters for some models in the Plantation range—contact us to confirm compatibility before ordering if you need to install on a sloped or vaulted ceiling.

How is the optic glass cleaned?

The diamond-cut glass can be wiped with a soft dry cloth or a barely-damp microfibre cloth. For dust caught in the lattice pattern, use a soft brush or compressed air. Avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the fitting as it may drip onto the internal metalwork and cause tarnishing.
