What door entry does

Door entry systems let you call, see and release the door from inside the property. A visitor presses a button at the door station, the call reaches an indoor unit, and you can speak to the caller and release the door without going to it. This is the core function across both audio and video systems.

Audio and video systems

The range covers audio systems, where you hear and speak to a caller through a handset, and video systems, where an indoor colour monitor lets you see who is there before answering. Video kits in the range pair an outdoor station with an indoor monitor, with a seven inch colour monitor among the options, while audio kits use a simpler handset.

Access control and door release

Beyond calling, many kits add access control. Proximity keypad and RFID tag options let residents enter with a code or a tag, and these pair with the hardware that physically holds and releases the door, including magnetic locks, exit buttons and the power supplies that run a multi-way system. Together these let you manage entry for several users from one installation.

Single and multi-way setups

Both single-way and multi-way systems are covered, so a setup can serve one door or several entrances and units in a shared building. Weatherproof door stations are available for exposed positions, with IP55 rated options for outdoor mounting. A few carry IP65, and finishes include black, matt black, white and silver.

How to choose

Start with whether you need to see callers or only hear them, which sets audio against video. Then decide how many units and doors the system must serve, and whether keypad or tag access is useful for the way the property is used. Fixed wiring and door release hardware should be installed by a qualified electrician. Free delivery worldwide on all orders over £99.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an audio and a video door entry system?
An audio system uses a handset to speak to whoever is at the door, while a video door entry system adds a camera at the door station and a 7 inch colour monitor inside, so you can see the caller too. Both are covered here in single and multi way versions.

Are the outdoor units weatherproof?
The door stations and cameras are rated IP55 or IP65, so they stand up to rain and damp at an exposed front door. The matching indoor monitors and handsets are made for inside use, in white, black or silver to suit the entrance.

Can I add keypad or tag access to the door?
Yes. The range includes proximity keypad kits with code and RFID tag entry, exit buttons and magnetic locks, including a 300kg IP68 fail-safe lock. These let you open the door with a code or tag as well as from the indoor monitor.

Is there a wireless option that avoids running cable?
Wireless doorbell kits with a plug-in chime are available, useful where wiring a full intercom system is difficult. The wired door stations and electric locks should be installed by a qualified electrician.
