Description

The ESP Aperta EZ-TAG3 is a combined proximity reader and numeric keypad door entry controller in a weatherproof silver IP65-rated housing. The unit supports dual-mode access — users either enter a four-digit code on the backlit blue keypad or present a proximity tag within 50mm of the reader at the top of the unit. Two on-board relays allow separate control of two access points or two user groups, and the system stores up to 1,010 unique PIN codes or proximity tag identities.

Designed for external mounting on residential gates, commercial door entry points, car parks, storage facilities and office perimeter doors, the EZ-TAG3 includes a doorbell function for visitor call-through where the controlled door lacks its own bell. The keypad measures 215mm high by 66mm wide and surface-mounts onto a wall or gate post using the rear mounting plate. Power is supplied from a separate 12V DC power supply (not included) which also determines whether the relays operate in fail-safe (unlocked when power lost) or fail-secure (locked when power lost) modes.

The unit ships with 10 proximity tags and supports standard 125kHz EM4100 compatible tags for user expansion. Programming is self-contained via the keypad itself without requiring connection to a PC — new codes and tags are enrolled by entering a master code, presenting the new tag or entering the new PIN, and saving. The anti-tamper input allows connection to a rear tamper switch, triggering an alarm output if the unit is forcibly removed from the wall. The dual relay configuration means one relay can control a gate motor while the second controls an internal door, or one group of users can access area 1 while a second group accesses area 2.

Frequently Asked

How many users can the EZ-TAG3 support?

The unit stores up to 1,010 unique users, each identified by either a four-digit PIN code or a proximity tag. These users can be allocated across two separate groups, with each group controlling a different relay output.

What power supply is required?

The EZ-TAG3 requires a 12V DC power supply, which is not included. The power supply must provide sufficient current to operate both the keypad and any connected lock or gate release mechanism. The fail-safe or fail-secure behaviour of the relays is determined by how the power supply is wired.

Can additional proximity tags be added?

Yes. The unit ships with 10 tags and supports standard 125kHz EM4100 compatible proximity tags. New tags are enrolled using the keypad programming mode without requiring a PC connection.

Is the unit weatherproof for outdoor installation?

The EZ-TAG3 carries an IP65 rating, making it weatherproof and dust-proof for external mounting on gates, perimeter walls and exposed door entry points. Ensure cable entry points are sealed correctly during installation to maintain the IP rating.
