Rugs for living rooms, bedrooms and studies

We hand-pick rugs that warm up a floor and pull a room together, softening hard boards and tiles underfoot. Our range covers living rooms, bedrooms and studies, from pieces sized to sit under a coffee table or bed to larger designs that define a whole seating area. A rug is one of the quickest ways to add colour, texture and comfort to a space without changing anything fixed.

Wool and woven rugs

We hold rugs in a spread of constructions, from soft wool pile that feels warm and dense underfoot to flatter woven designs that are easy to lay in busier spots. Wool holds its shape and colour well and suits a bedroom or lounge, while tighter weaves work in hallways and under dining chairs. Each product page lists the material and pile so you can match the rug to how the room is used.

Sizes, from small to large

Our rugs run from small accent sizes up to large floor rugs, which shoppers in the US often call area rugs. As a rough guide, a rug under a sofa and coffee table usually looks best with the front legs of the seating resting on it, while a bedroom rug can sit under the lower two-thirds of the bed or run along each side. Measuring the space first makes the choice far easier.

Colours and textures

From calm neutrals and naturals to deeper, richer tones, the range gives you room to either settle a busy scheme or add a focal point to a plain one. Texture matters as much as colour, so a high, tufted pile brings cosiness while a low, flat weave keeps a room feeling clean and open. Pairing a rug with cushions or a throw in a shared tone ties a look together.

Choosing the right size

Work from the furniture out. In a living room, measure the seating group and aim for a rug that sits under at least the front legs of the sofa and chairs. In a bedroom, decide whether you want the rug fully under the bed or framing it on three sides. Leaving an even border of floor around the edges of a room helps a rug look deliberate rather than squeezed in.

Care and delivery

Regular, gentle vacuuming keeps a rug fresh, and a rug pad or underlay adds grip and cushioning while protecting the floor beneath. New pile rugs may shed lightly at first, which settles with use. Spot-clean spills promptly and check the label for cleaning guidance. We offer free delivery worldwide on all orders over £99.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size rug do I need for a living room?
As a guide, choose a rug large enough for the front legs of your sofa and chairs to rest on it, which keeps a seating group feeling connected. Measure the area first, then check each product page for the exact dimensions, since larger floor rugs are sometimes listed as area rugs.

Are wool rugs better than synthetic?
Wool is soft, warm and hard-wearing and holds its colour well, which suits bedrooms and lounges. Woven and synthetic rugs are often easier to clean and better for busy or high-traffic spots. The right choice depends on the room, and each product page lists the material.

How do I clean and look after a rug?
Vacuum gently and regularly, and deal with spills promptly by blotting rather than rubbing. A rug pad underneath adds grip and protects both the rug and the floor. Always check the care label, as cleaning guidance varies by material.

Do new rugs shed?
Some pile rugs, especially wool, shed a little when new. This is normal and eases with regular, gentle vacuuming over the first few weeks of use.

Should I use a rug pad or underlay?
We recommend one for most rugs. An underlay stops the rug slipping, adds a little cushioning underfoot and reduces wear on both the rug and the floor beneath it.

Do you deliver rugs worldwide?
