Description
Vesper is a vintage wool rug with a traditional design, machine woven in 80% wool and 20% polyamide to a high density weave. Its sand beige field carries a central medallion of stepped, geometric motifs, framed by a soft cream border scattered with small flowers. Rust and terracotta pick out the heart of each motif, with touches of muted teal blue, ochre and dark brown worked throughout, and the colours have a faded look that suits its vintage style. Both short ends finish in a dark charcoal fringe.
This is a living room rug, and its warm neutral ground sits easily with wooden floors, grey or blue upholstery and cream walls. We sell it in three sizes. The 120 by 170cm rug suits a smaller living room, in front of a fireplace or under a coffee table. The 160 by 235cm size anchors a sofa and coffee table, and the 200 by 285cm rug is large enough for the front legs of a sofa and chairs to rest on it, pulling a seating area together.
Because it is hard wearing, it is a sensible choice for the room your household uses most, where a rug takes daily foot traffic. The high density weave means the fibres are packed closely together, and the wool content means most of what you walk on is a natural fibre. Before you order, mark out the size you have in mind on the floor with masking tape; it is the easiest way to choose between the three.
