Who Trio Lighting are

Trio is a German lighting manufacturer with around thirty-five years behind it, working in the decorative end of the market rather than the industrial one. The range is designed in-house, which shows in how consistently a series carries across formats: a shape that works as a chandelier usually appears as a matching wall light, a pendant and a table lamp in the same finishes, so a room can be furnished from one family rather than assembled from several.

What the range covers

Broadly, everything a home needs indoors and immediately outside it. Ceiling lights and chandeliers are the largest parts of the range, followed by wall lights, spotlight bars and outdoor wall lights. Beyond those sit table and floor lamps, lamp posts and bollard-height garden lighting, recessed downlights, the DUOline track system with its own connectors and power supplies, and a compact set of decorative filament bulbs in candle, golf ball and globe shapes.

Integrated LED and replaceable lamps

Trio splits cleanly between fittings with integrated LED and fittings that take a replaceable lamp, and it matters for how long a light lasts and what you do when it dims. Integrated models have the LED built into the fitting, run cooler and slimmer, and carry the five-year guarantee. Lamp-holder models take an ordinary E14, E27, GU10 or G9 bulb you can change yourself. Each product page states which it is, along with the wattage and the lumen output.

Finishes and how they repeat

The finishes recur deliberately across the catalogue — matt black, matt white, anthracite, satin nickel, brushed brass, rust and a wood effect — so a pendant over a table and the wall lights beside it can be specified in the same tone. Where a fitting is two-tone, the outer and inner finishes are both named, because a brass-lined black shade throws noticeably warmer light than a white-lined one.

Outdoor and damp-rated fittings

Outdoor pieces run from wall lanterns and PIR-sensor fittings to lamp posts, bollards and recessed ground lights, and each carries an IP rating on its page. It is worth reading that rating rather than the word outdoor: IP44 means protected against splashing from any direction, which suits a sheltered porch or a bathroom, while IP65 withstands direct jets and is what an exposed wall or a driveway needs. A fitting rated for damp is not automatically rated for weather.
