Industrial table lamps lean on honest materials and visible fittings rather than soft cover. Across our range you will find metal bodies in matt black, gold, silver and brass, alongside warmer tones of aged brass, brushed gold, satin copper and old bronze. Some bodies pair these metals with concrete or smoked glass, and there is a natural linen shade where you want a little diffusion over the bulb. The look works because the materials are left to do the talking, so the lamp reads as a piece of kit as much as a light source.

Where exposed-bulb styling earns its place

A bare or lightly shaded bulb throws a frank, warm pool of light, which suits the spots where you sit close to the source. On a desk or study table, that means a focused glow over a keyboard or notebook without a wide spread across the room. On a bedside table, a compact metal lamp gives you enough to read by and a bit of ambient warmth once you switch off the overhead. Many of our designs are tagged for the bedroom, study and living room for exactly this reason: they are small enough to sit on a side table and direct enough to do a job.

If you like a strong filament glow, look for fittings that take an E27 cap, since these accept the larger decorative bulbs that the industrial look is built around. Smaller G9 versions exist too, where a tidier body and a more contained light suit a shelf or a narrow nightstand.

It also helps to think about whether you want task or ambient light. Many of these lamps are tagged for task work, which is the focused, close-range light you want over a desk or a book. A smaller group leans ambient, casting a softer wash that fills a corner or warms a living-room side table. Some designs cover both jobs depending on how you aim them, but knowing which you are after narrows the choice quickly, especially when you are pairing a lamp with an overhead light that already covers the whole room.

Adjustable arms for task corners

The angle of the light matters as much as its colour. We stock a number of adjustable and articulated desk lamps that let you swing the head over the work and pull it back when you are done. Designs with a jointed or articulated arm give you that reach, so the same lamp covers reading in an armchair, sketching at a desk and lighting a dressing table. Matt black, silver and brass finishes keep the mechanism looking purposeful rather than hidden, which is the whole point of the industrial style.

For switching, several lamps run on integrated LED with a touch dimmer, so you can knock the level down without reaching for a separate wall switch. Others are dimmable through a compatible circuit. Most of our integrated designs run warm white at around 3000K, which keeps that filament-bulb feel even where the light source is solid state.

Sizing and finishes that sit together

These lamps are compact by design. The bulk of our range falls in the small band, roughly 30 to 50cm wide, with a smaller group of medium pieces for a larger console or sideboard. That keeps them in proportion on a desk or bedside table without crowding the surface. Stick to a small footprint where the lamp shares space with books, a clock or a charger, and step up to a medium body where it stands alone as the main light on a table.

On finish, the range splits roughly between cooler metals such as matt black, silver, chrome and polished nickel, and warmer ones such as gold, brass, aged brass, satin copper and old bronze. Cool finishes read more minimal and sit well with monochrome and neutral rooms; warm metals add depth against darker walls and wood. Two-tone bodies, where a black frame meets brass joints or a copper detail, bridge the two and tend to be the most forgiving if your room mixes both. If you want a touch more texture, a concrete base or a smoked glass body brings in a non-metal element that still keeps the raw, unfinished feel the look is known for, and a natural linen shade softens the output where a bare bulb would be too harsh for a bedside.
