Description

A table lamp, 67cm tall, in nickel. At 38cm wide it is about the width of a laptop.

Polished cool metals show every fingerprint, which is the trade for the brightness. A brushed version of the same finish hides them almost entirely and still catches the light along the grain. Glass reads differently depending on what is behind it, which is why the same piece looks warm against a painted wall and cool against a window. It also means it wants cleaning more often than an opaque finish does. It arrives complete with its shade, which is not always true at this price.

It takes 1 E14 screw-fit bulb up to 6-9W LED. E14 is the commonest fitting on any supermarket shelf, so replacements are never a hunt. It is not dimmable, which means you choose the warmth at the bulb rather than at the switch: a 2700K bulb will do more here than a dimmer would. The cable is black, with an in-line switch you can reach without groping behind furniture, and a uk 3 pin with 3 amp fuse already fitted. The head adjusts, so you can aim the light at a book rather than a ceiling. A Golfball shaped bulb, which is the word to look for on the box.

The light you actually see is the light that comes THROUGH the shade, not the light from the bulb. That is why the same bulb reads warm behind a cream fabric and cold behind a white one.
