The bits behind every install

Wiring accessories are the parts that do the quiet work of first-fix and finishing, on a home rewire or out on site. They are the boxes, enclosures and small components that sit behind the visible fittings, holding everything in place and keeping connections protected. None of them are seen once the job is done, but the install depends on having the right ones to hand.

Back boxes for first fix

The range includes a number of galvanised steel back boxes in single and twin gang and a spread of depths, ready to take sockets, switches and plates. Alongside them sit white dry lining boxes for plasterboard walls, where the box clamps into the board rather than fixing to brick, and surface mount boxes for where you cannot sink a box into the wall at all. Between them they cover most of the ways a fitting needs to be mounted across a typical property.

Weatherproof boxes and enclosures

For outdoor and damp work there are IP68 gel junction boxes that seal a connection against moisture, plus IP66 enclosures for housing gear where the weather gets in. These suit gardens, outbuildings and exposed runs where an ordinary box would not last, keeping the connection dry through rain and damp.

Smart plugs and fuses

The range also takes in Wi-Fi smart plugs for switching devices remotely or on a schedule. Keeping a drawer of the right fuses means a blown one is a quick swap rather than a trip out for spares mid-repair.

Stocking up

Because these parts get used in numbers, it pays to keep a sensible stock of the boxes and fuses you reach for most. Buying the back boxes, enclosures and consumables together saves repeat trips mid-job and keeps a van or workshop ready for the next call. Free delivery worldwide on all orders over £99.

Frequently Asked Questions

What depths do the steel back boxes come in?
Galvanised steel back boxes are available in 16mm, 25mm and 47mm depths in 1 gang and 2 gang sizes, with some 2 gang boxes offering fixed and adjustable lugs. Pick the depth to suit the accessory and the wall, deeper boxes giving more room for conductors.

Which junction boxes suit outdoor and underground use?
The weatherproof gel junction boxes are rated IP68 for full protection against dust and water, in 3-way and 4-way versions up to 24A, including inline and clear polycarbonate types. Gel-filled boxes seal the connection, which suits garden, outdoor and underground wiring runs.

What fuse sizes and types are stocked?
Our cartridge fuses have their own page in household electricals. An inline fuse holder and a fast-blow assortment pack are also available.

Can I fit these accessories myself?
Surface boxes, smart plugs and fuses are straightforward to handle, but back boxes and junction boxes form part of fixed wiring connected to the mains. For any work on fixed mains wiring, we recommend it is carried out by a qualified electrician with the supply isolated.
