Description

This Knightsbridge mixed fuse pack contains ten ceramic cartridge fuses in the three most common UK plug ratings: three 3A fuses, three 5A fuses and four 13A fuses. Each fuse is a 6.35mm diameter by 25.4mm length ceramic-bodied cartridge rated for 230V 50Hz mains, certified to BS 1362 and ASTA approved.

The pack covers the typical household requirement: 3A fuses for low-power appliances (table lamps, phone chargers, small electronics under 720W), 5A fuses for mid-power devices (desk lamps, radios, smaller power tools up to 1,150W), and 13A fuses for higher-draw appliances (kettles, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, irons up to 3,000W). Keeping a mixed pack on hand means you can replace a blown fuse immediately without needing to identify the correct rating first and make a separate trip to buy one.

All ten fuses arrive on a blister card with a euro slot for retail display or storage in a cupboard. The ceramic body on each fuse provides better thermal stability than glass-bodied alternatives and breaks cleanly when the fuse blows, making visual inspection straightforward. The metal end caps are nickel-plated for corrosion resistance and low contact resistance inside the plug fuse carrier.

Frequently Asked

How do I know which rating fuse to use?

Match the fuse rating to the appliance load. Use 3A for devices up to 720W, 5A for devices up to 1,150W, and 13A for devices up to 3,000W. Most appliance manuals specify the correct fuse rating, and the rating is often printed on the back of the appliance near the power cable entry.

Are these fuses compatible with all UK plugs?

Yes. The 6.35mm diameter by 25.4mm length dimension is the standard UK plug fuse size, and these fuses are BS 1362 certified, which is the British Standard for fuses in plugs and adaptors rated up to 13A.

What does ASTA approval mean?

ASTA is an independent testing and certification body. ASTA approval confirms that the fuses meet the safety and performance requirements of BS 1362, which includes breaking capacity, current-carrying ability and temperature rise limits.

Can I use a higher-rated fuse than the appliance requires?

No. Always use the fuse rating specified by the appliance manufacturer. Using a higher-rated fuse (e.g. a 13A fuse in a lamp that requires 3A) removes the protective function of the fuse and increases the risk of cable overheating or fire if the appliance develops a fault.
