What defines our Scandinavian lighting range

Scandi lighting grew from long northern winters and short daylight hours, so the designs focus on making the most of every bit of light. We stock pieces built from natural materials such as oak, ash and painted metal, often in soft whites, greys and muted greens. The shapes stay simple, letting the light do the work rather than heavy ornament. This approach means a lamp or ceiling fixture settles into a room quietly, working alongside furniture rather than competing with it. Nordic lighting also tends towards warmer bulb temperatures, which suits cosy living spaces and bedrooms where harsh light would feel out of place.

Choosing the right piece for each room

For open living areas, a pendant over a table or a floor lamp beside a sofa gives a settled anchor of light. In bedrooms, we often reach for smaller table designs or wall-mounted options that keep surfaces clear. Kitchens and dining spaces benefit from pendants hung at a height that lights the table without dazzling anyone seated. We suggest thinking about layers: one main source for general light, then a couple of softer points for reading or relaxing. Scandi lighting works well in this layered way because the designs share a common language, so mixing styles rarely looks busy.

Materials, care and finish

Most of our nordic lighting uses hard-wearing finishes that need little more than an occasional dust. Wooden elements should be kept away from damp, while metal and glass shades wipe clean with a soft cloth. Check the fitting and bulb type before buying so replacements are easy to source later. Many pieces take standard LED bulbs, which keeps running costs low and pairs neatly with the warm light these designs are known for.
