Description

This pendant light has a finely pleated white shade that swells gently through the middle and narrows towards the top and bottom, so it reads as a soft, rounded lantern rather than a plain dome. The shade is 21cm across and 28cm tall, a compact size that suits a single drop over a small table, or a row of them along a longer one. The light is made of iron, polyester and polycarbonate, with iron making up 85% of it, and the whole pendant weighs 1KG.

It hangs from a 250cm black cable, which gives you a generous drop for a room with a higher ceiling and lets the shade sit at a comfortable height over a dining table, a desk or a reading chair. The fine pleats give the white surface a quiet texture, so it settles easily into a living room, a bedroom, a hallway or a calm dining room where bare metal or plain glass would feel too hard. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry rooms only, so keep it to the living spaces of the house.

The shade takes an E27 bulb, the standard large screw fitting, so you have a wide choice of bulbs to suit the mood of the room. The maker gives a maximum of 25W, or LED 3W, or CFL 6W, and the bulb is not included, so choose one within those limits. At the ceiling the cable runs into a round ceiling rose with a polished finish, and the maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. For styling, let the shade hang on its own over a pale wooden or stone table, or hang a pair over a longer table so the pleated shapes repeat along its length.
