Description
The Zoom is an 85mm diameter surface-mounted downlight with a white aluminium cylinder body and a GU10 socket rated for lamps up to 50W. The IP65 ingress protection rating means the fitting is fully dust-sealed and can withstand water jets from any direction, making it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, above showers, in kitchens near sinks, and in outdoor sheltered areas such as covered porches and carports.
Designed for spaces where recessed downlights are not viable due to shallow ceiling voids, the Zoom mounts directly onto the ceiling surface with a 115mm total height from the ceiling plane. The cylindrical body directs light downwards through a frosted diffuser at the base, providing focused task lighting over worktops, bathroom mirrors, or walkways without spill light onto the ceiling above. The white finish blends into white and light-coloured ceilings, reducing visual clutter in minimalist and Scandinavian interiors.
The aluminium body acts as a heat sink, dissipating heat from the GU10 lamp to extend bulb life and prevent overheating in enclosed ceiling spaces. The 85mm diameter and 115mm height suit standard residential ceiling heights of 2.4m and above, providing adequate downlight spread without creating harsh shadows. The GU10 fitting accepts standard LED, halogen or energy-saving lamps (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose the colour temperature and lumen output that suits the room.

Frequently Asked
What does IP65 mean for bathroom use?
IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-sealed and protected against water jets from any direction. This makes the Zoom suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, including above showers and baths, as well as in steamy kitchens and outdoor sheltered areas.
What bulb does it take?
The Zoom takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. GU10 LED bulbs are widely available in warm white (2700K-3000K) and cool white (4000K-6000K) temperatures. Bulbs are sold separately.
Why use a surface-mounted downlight instead of recessed?
Surface-mounted downlights suit situations where the ceiling void is too shallow for recessed fittings, or where running new wiring into the ceiling is impractical. The Zoom mounts directly onto the ceiling surface and can be wired from above or behind depending on the installation.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, but only in sheltered locations such as covered porches, carports and soffits where the fitting is protected from direct rain and prolonged exposure to standing water. IP65 protects against water jets but not continuous immersion.
