This wooden floor lamp is built around its stem: a column of rounded wooden spheres set along a slim rod, rising from a round base to a drum shade of linen. It stands 155cm tall and measures 44cm across at the shade, which is itself 30cm tall, so this is a full-height floor lamp with real presence in a room rather than a narrow reading light. The material breaks down as 40% linen, 40% rubberwood, 10% iron and 10% PVC, and the whole lamp comes in natural, with the grain of the wood showing through on every sphere.

Its size suits the corner of a living room, beside an armchair or the end of a sofa, and it works just as well in a bedroom where a ceiling light feels too bright for the evening. Linen lets light through gently, so the drum gives a soft, even glow across the space instead of a hard pool. The switch sits on the cord and is worked by foot, so you can switch the lamp without reaching behind a chair to find it. The cable is 150cm long, so site it near a wall socket. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.
