Description

This round pendant light has a shade of beige mesh fabric stretched over curved ribs that cross one another as they wrap around it, so the surface reads as a soft lattice rather than a plain globe. It is 50cm across and 35cm tall, so it has a broad, rounded outline that brings presence to a room without taking up much height. It is made from polyester and iron in equal parts, and the whole light weighs 1.3KG.

At 50cm across, it is a good size to hang over a dining table, where its wide shade suits the span of the table, or in the centre of a living room or bedroom. The 250cm cable gives room to hang it low over a table or higher in a room or hallway with a tall ceiling. It takes an E27 screw-in bulb, the large Edison screw size, up to 60W, or up to 9W for an LED or 14W for a CFL. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms only.

The shade is finished in mesh fabric, fine enough that the ribs and the bulb fitting show faintly through it. A fabric shade softens the light from the bulb, so the lattice glows gently when it is lit rather than throwing a hard glare. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. For styling, we like it over a round table, where the two curves answer each other, or against linen and warm wood, where the beige sits quietly and the crossing ribs add a gentle pattern of their own.
