This table lamp is built on stone: its base is three stacked pieces of travertine, a round disc at the top, a sphere in the middle and a second disc at the foot, with a tall cylindrical linen shade above. Travertine is a natural limestone, and its surface carries small pits and layered banding, so no two bases are quite alike. The lamp stands 53cm tall and 19cm across and weighs 4.39KG, which is real heft for a table lamp: it sits firmly on a surface rather than perching on it.

At 53cm tall it suits a bedside table, a side table next to an armchair or a sideboard in the living room, and the beige stone and linen sit happily with wood, wool and other natural textures. The cable is 150cm long, which gives you room to reach a socket behind a bed or a sofa, and the switch sits on the cord, so you can turn the lamp on without reaching up under the shade. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, studies and hallways.
