Description
The Knightsbridge GSK298F is a 47mm-deep galvanised steel back box designed specifically for multimedia combination plates, measuring 279mm wide by 159mm high. The single-cavity construction provides space for data, audio/video and power module combinations in the same faceplate, with enough depth to accommodate cable terminations and connectors behind multi-module plates.
The box is built for commercial and residential installations where multimedia distribution is needed — home offices with HDMI, USB and network sockets on a single plate, meeting rooms with audio/video connectivity panels, or residential installations combining data, satellite and telephone connections. The 47mm depth handles the deeper connectors used in HDMI, USB and satellite modules, which do not fit standard 25mm or 35mm electrical back boxes.
Constructed from 1mm-thick galvanised steel, the box includes four fixed mounting lugs and four adjustable lugs, giving flexibility for brick, plasterboard and dry-lining installations. Two earth terminals are fitted as standard. The separator channel running across the centre allows logical cable routing when multiple module types are used. Cable entry uses a combination of 20mm and 25mm knockouts positioned around the perimeter, matching standard UK conduit and cable gland sizes.
The galvanised finish provides corrosion resistance in indoor environments and complies with EN 60670 standards for electrical accessory enclosures. The IP20 rating suits standard indoor wall mounting where the faceplate is fitted — it is not rated for outdoor or bathroom zone use without additional protection.

Frequently Asked
What multimedia plates does this fit?
This back box is designed for Knightsbridge's modular multimedia combination plates, which accept snap-in modules for HDMI, USB, satellite, network, audio and other data connectors. Check the specific faceplate's module configuration to confirm fit.
Can this be used for standard electrical sockets?
While the box could physically house standard electrical accessories, it is dimensioned for multimedia plates rather than traditional socket or switch configurations. For standard 2-gang electrical accessories, a conventional 2-gang back box is more appropriate and cost-effective.
What wall types can this be fitted to?
The combination of fixed and adjustable mounting lugs allows fitting to brick, block, plasterboard and dry-lining. On plasterboard the adjustable lugs grip the board from behind, while on masonry the fixed lugs accept screws into plugs.
Is the separator channel removable?
The separator channel is a fixed part of the box structure and cannot be removed. It runs across the centre of the cavity to help organise cables when different module types (power, data, AV) are used in the same plate.
