Description

The Knightsbridge SN8335D is a white PVC dry lining box designed for mounting electrical accessories into plasterboard cavity walls. The 35mm recessed depth accommodates a single or double gang socket or switch, with fixing lugs that grip the reverse of the plasterboard during installation. Two 20mm knock-outs at the rear allow conduit entry, while cable entry channels at the top and bottom accept cables from above or below.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation where electrical accessories need to be mounted into stud walls or partition walls with plasterboard facing. The box is fitted by cutting a 220x73mm aperture in the plasterboard, inserting the box from the front, and tightening the fixing screws to draw the lugs tight against the back of the board. Once installed, the box provides a rigid fixing point for the electrical accessory and prevents the accessory from pushing back into the cavity under repeated use.

The white PVC construction resists impact during installation and does not corrode in damp cavity environments. The 35mm depth fits cavity walls with at least 40mm clearance between the plasterboard face and the solid wall or insulation behind. BS 5733 certification confirms compliance with UK standards for electrical accessory boxes. The box is supplied in shrink-sealed Knightsbridge multipacks and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What size aperture do I need to cut in the plasterboard?

The cut-out dimension is 220x73mm. Mark and cut this aperture in the plasterboard before inserting the box from the front.

How does the box fix to the plasterboard?

The box uses metal fixing lugs with screw adjustment. When the fixing screws are tightened, the lugs draw tight against the reverse face of the plasterboard, gripping the board between the lugs and the front edge of the box.

What depth of cavity wall is needed?

The 35mm recessed depth requires at least 40mm clearance between the plasterboard face and any solid wall or insulation behind it to allow the box to fit fully into the cavity.

Can cables enter from above and below?

Yes. Cable entry channels are moulded into the top and bottom edges of the box, allowing cables to be run vertically from either direction. The two 20mm knock-outs at the rear accommodate conduit if required.
