Description

The Knightsbridge 13A cartridge fuse is a BS 1362 certified replacement fuse for UK 3-pin plugs, adaptors and fused connection units. Each fuse measures 6.35mm diameter by 25.4mm length and is rated to carry 13A continuous load at 240V 50Hz, providing overcurrent and short-circuit protection for electrical appliances up to 3,120W.

Used in standard UK plugs for appliances including kettles, toasters, washing machines, televisions, computers and kitchen equipment, the fuse acts as the weakest point in the circuit by design. When current exceeds 13A — either through a fault in the appliance or a short-circuit in the cable — the fuse element melts and breaks the circuit before damage reaches the appliance or wiring. This makes the fuse a consumable safety component that needs replacing after it has operated.

The ceramic body with metal end caps meets ASTA approval standards and carries BS 1362 certification, confirming the fuse will rupture at the rated current without arcing or causing secondary damage. Each pack contains 10 fuses supplied on a Knightsbridge blister card with euro slot for retail display. The fuses fit all standard UK 3-pin plugs and fused spur units that accept BS 1362 cartridge fuses.

Frequently Asked

When should a fuse be replaced?

Replace the fuse when an appliance stops working and you have ruled out the socket itself being faulty. A blown fuse appears as a break in the internal wire element visible through the ceramic body, or may show scorch marks on the end caps. Do not replace a fuse multiple times on the same appliance without investigating the underlying fault.

What appliances use 13A fuses?

Most high-draw UK appliances including kettles, toasters, washing machines, tumble dryers, irons, microwaves, heaters and vacuum cleaners use 13A fuses in their plugs. Lower-power devices like lamps, radios and phone chargers typically use 3A or 5A fuses instead.

Are these compatible with all UK plugs?

Yes. BS 1362 is the UK standard for cartridge fuses used in domestic plugs and fused connection units. These fuses fit any plug or spur unit designed to accept BS 1362 cartridge fuses at 6.35mm diameter and 25.4mm length.

How many fuses are in the pack?

The pack contains 10 fuses supplied on a Knightsbridge blister card.
