Description

The Knightsbridge 13A plug top is a white polypropylene plug fitted with a replaceable 13A fuse and a screw-type cord grip for securing the cable sheath. The plug accepts standard UK three-core mains cable and provides a Class I earth connection through the third pin.

Designed for domestic appliance wiring, lamp flex termination and replacement of damaged plugs on household equipment, the plug top meets BS 1363-2 specification and carries BSI Kitemark certification. The screw cord grip tightens onto the outer cable sheath to prevent the cable being pulled out of the plug under load, keeping the internal wire connections secure during use.

The white polypropylene body measures 52mm high, 50mm wide and 42mm deep, with a 20mm projection from the socket face when plugged in. The IP20 rating means the plug is suitable for dry indoor use but not for bathrooms, outdoor locations or environments where it might be exposed to moisture. The fuse is user-replaceable without tools, allowing a blown fuse to be swapped for a new one without discarding the entire plug.

Can the fuse be replaced?

Yes. The 13A fuse is replaceable. Remove the fuse carrier from the plug body by pulling it out between the live and neutral pins, replace the fuse, and push the carrier back in until it clicks into place.

Is this suitable for bathroom use?

No. The IP20 rating means the plug is designed for dry indoor use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor locations or any environment where it might be exposed to moisture or water splashes.
