Description

The Knightsbridge 60A junction box provides three brass terminals inside a hinged white thermoset resin casing, rated for 230V 50Hz circuits up to 60A. Each terminal accepts cables up to 25mm² cross-sectional area, with built-in strain reliefs securing the cable entries and preventing movement that could loosen terminal connections over time.

Designed for concealed installation above ceilings, inside service voids, or behind plasterboard where cables need to be joined or redistributed without an accessible fused connection unit, the junction box is rated IP20 for indoor dry environments only. The 147mm x 90mm x 40mm casing provides enough internal volume for safe termination of three cables without tight bends that could damage insulation.

The white thermoset resin construction meets BS EN 60670 and resists heat buildup better than standard thermoplastic junction boxes, making it suitable for higher-current circuits such as cooker feeds, shower circuits, and sub-main distribution. The hinged lid clips closed without tools and can be reopened for inspection or circuit modification. Knightsbridge backs this junction box with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What circuits is this junction box suitable for?

The 60A rating suits cooker feeds, electric shower circuits, sub-main distribution, and other high-current fixed wiring circuits up to 60A at 230V. It is not suitable for ring final circuits or lighting circuits where a smaller junction box is more appropriate.

Can this be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means this junction box is suitable only for indoor dry locations. For bathrooms, outdoor use, or damp environments, a junction box with IP65 or higher rating is required.

What cable size does it accept?

Each of the three terminals accepts cables up to 25mm² cross-sectional area. The built-in strain reliefs grip the cable sheath to prevent movement that could loosen terminal connections.

Does the lid need to be accessible after installation?

Yes. BS 7671 wiring regulations require all junction boxes to remain accessible for inspection, testing and maintenance. This box cannot be plastered over or permanently sealed behind plasterboard without a removable access panel.
