Description

The Knightsbridge 35mm single dry lining box is a white PVC mounting box designed for installing electrical accessories into plasterboard and dry-lined cavity walls. The 35mm recessed depth provides clearance for standard switch and socket mechanisms behind the faceplate, while the moulded lugs on each side grip the plasterboard during installation.

Suitable for both new-build and retrofit electrical work, the box accepts single-gang faceplates from Knightsbridge and other manufacturers. The 73mm x 73mm cut-out dimensions match standard UK single-gang switch and socket footprints. Cable entry channels at top and bottom allow wiring to run vertically through stud walls, and a 20mm knock-out at the rear provides additional cable entry from behind the wall cavity when needed.

The white PVC construction resists cracking during installation and gives a clean finish behind white or light-coloured faceplates. The box carries BS 5733 certification for dry lining boxes and includes a 25-year manufacturer warranty. Knightsbridge supplies these boxes in shrink-sealed multipacks for trade installation projects.

Frequently Asked

What wall thickness does this box suit?

The 35mm recessed depth is designed for standard 12.5mm plasterboard fixed to timber or metal stud frames. The box sits flush with the plasterboard surface once the moulded lugs are tightened against the back of the board.

How is the box secured in the plasterboard?

Two red adjustable lugs on opposite sides of the box are tightened with a screwdriver once the box is inserted through the cut-out. The lugs pull against the back of the plasterboard, clamping the box in place without additional fixings.

What size hole do I cut for installation?

The cut-out size is 73mm x 73mm. This can be marked and cut with a pad saw, jab saw or dry lining cutter before inserting the box through the hole.

Is it suitable for sockets and switches?

Yes. The 35mm depth provides clearance for standard single-gang switch and socket mechanisms. The box accepts any single-gang faceplate with fixing lugs set at the standard 60.3mm centres.
