Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 6-terminal junction box provides six brass terminal positions inside an 89mm-diameter black thermoset resin enclosure rated for 230V circuits up to 20A. The selective entry system allows cables to enter from any of multiple pre-marked knock-out points around the perimeter, giving flexibility in positioning and routing cables without having to pre-determine entry angles before installation.

Designed for residential, commercial and light industrial installations where multiple cables need to be joined or branched in ceiling voids, under floors, or behind stud walls, the junction box sits 26mm deep when surface-mounted or can be recessed into cavity walls. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations but not for damp zones like bathrooms or outdoor use. The six terminals accept cables of standard domestic gauge and are secured with brass screws.

The thermoset resin casing resists impact better than standard thermoplastic and holds its shape under heat from sustained current draw, making it a more durable choice for permanent installations in areas where the junction box might be knocked during maintenance or building work. The black finish makes the box less visible when surface-mounted on dark ceilings or walls. Certified to BS EN 60670 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What cable sizes does the junction box accept?

The six terminals accept standard domestic cable gauges typically used in UK 230V circuits rated up to 20A, including 2.5mm² twin-and-earth cable. Each terminal is secured with a brass screw to ensure a firm connection.

Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the junction box is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It does not provide protection against moisture ingress, so it cannot be used in bathroom zones or outdoor installations.

What does selective entry mean?

Selective entry refers to pre-marked knock-out points around the perimeter of the junction box that can be removed to allow cables to enter from different angles. This gives flexibility in routing cables without needing to know the exact entry positions before starting the installation.

What is thermoset resin and why does it matter?

Thermoset resin is a type of plastic that becomes permanently rigid when cured, unlike thermoplastic which can soften under heat. It offers better impact resistance and dimensional stability under sustained current draw, making it more durable for permanent installations in areas where the box might be knocked during maintenance work.
