IP68 24A Inline Weatherproof Gel Box - 3 Way Lever Connector

The Knightsbridge IP68 inline gel box is a pre-filled weatherproof connector housing for joining mains cables outdoors and underground. It accepts cables from 5mm to 14mm diameter through M22 cable glands at each end, with a 3-way lever connector inside surrounded by insulating gel that seals the joint against water ingress at pressures up to 5 bar. Rated at 24A, 450V maximum, the box suits outdoor lighting runs, power extensions to sheds and garden rooms, and repair joints where cable needs to be extended or re-routed.

Designed for direct burial, surface mounting on external walls, and installation in flooded or permanently wet locations, the IP68 rating certifies protection against dust and continuous submersion. The flame-retardant PA66 V-0 polymer housing withstands temperatures from -30°C to 85°C, covering winter frost and summer heat without cracking or softening. The high-grade silicon gasket seals the joint between the two halves of the housing, while the gel inside fills voids around the cable cores to block moisture paths.

The 3-way lever connector inside the housing handles live, neutral and earth connections without requiring a screwdriver — each lever lifts to accept a stripped conductor, then clamps down to grip it. The box comes with cable sleeves pre-fitted to guide the conductors into the lever block, and the gel is already inside the housing so the box can be assembled and sealed on site in a few minutes. The compact 129mm length and 28mm width allow the box to fit into narrow cable trenches and behind outdoor light fittings where space is limited.

The black housing blends into soil, paving joints and dark external walls. Compatible cable types include HO7RN-F 3G 0.75mm² to 2.5mm², covering most outdoor flex and armoured cable cores once the outer sheath and armour are stripped back to expose the insulated conductors. The M22 glands provide strain relief so the cable weight does not pull on the internal connections.

What cable diameters does it accept?

The M22 cable glands accept cables from 5mm to 14mm outer diameter. This covers HO7RN-F 3G 0.75mm² to 2.5mm² and similar outdoor flex types. Measure the outer diameter of your cable including the sheath before ordering.

Can it be buried underground?

Yes. The IP68 rating certifies protection against continuous submersion at pressures up to 5 bar, which covers direct burial in garden soil, under paving, and in flooded ducting. The gel inside prevents moisture reaching the connections even if water enters the gland threads.

Is the gel already inside?

Yes. The box is supplied pre-filled with insulating gel, so you do not need to buy or inject gel separately. The gel surrounds the lever connector once the cables are inserted and the housing is closed.

What temperature range does it handle?

The PA66 V-0 housing and silicon gasket operate from -30°C to 85°C. This covers winter outdoor installations in frost and summer heat without the housing cracking or the seal failing.
