Description

The Mercury UK mains plug is a 5A fused BS1363-compliant plug with a white thermoplastic body, fully shrouded pins and an integral cord grip. The 5A fuse rating suits low-power appliances and electronics including table lamps, DAB radios, phone chargers, alarm clocks and small desk fans — devices that draw up to 1,150W on 230V mains.

The plug fits standard UK three-pin wall sockets and extension leads. The fully shrouded pins reduce the risk of contact with live metal when the plug is being inserted or removed from a socket, while the integral cord grip clamps the cable sheath to prevent strain on the internal wire connections. The screw-fixed faceplate allows access to the fuse compartment and terminal screws for re-wiring or fuse replacement.

The white finish matches standard UK socket faceplates and provides a clean appearance on appliances used in offices, kitchens, bedrooms and workshop environments. The plug body is moulded from flame-retardant thermoplastic that meets BS1363 mechanical and fire safety requirements.

Can the fuse be replaced?

The integral cord grip accepts standard two-core and three-core flexible cables between 5mm and 8mm outer diameter, covering most low-power appliance flex.

Is this plug suitable for outdoor use?

No. This plug carries no IP rating and is designed for dry indoor use only. For outdoor applications, use a weatherproof plug rated IP54 or higher.
