Description

The Mercury BCA is a euro converter plug that adapts 2-pin European plugs to fit UK BS1363 sockets, with a 3A fuse fitted as standard. The converter accepts standard Europlug (Type C) and Schuko (Type F) 2-pin plugs and outputs to the three-pin UK socket format, allowing European appliances and chargers to be used on UK mains.

Designed for travel use and for powering imported appliances, the converter suits low-draw devices including phone chargers, laptop power supplies, small kitchen appliances, and consumer electronics rated up to 3A (690W on 230V). The 3A fuse provides overcurrent protection for the appliance and the converter itself, tripping if the current draw exceeds the rating.

The black plastic body measures approximately 55mm x 50mm x 45mm and sits flush against the wall socket once inserted, minimising the projection into the room. The euro socket aperture on the front is clearly marked and holds the inserted plug securely without lateral movement. The converter is not reversible — it only adapts euro plugs to UK sockets, not the other way around.

Yes. The converter uses a standard BS1362 3A cartridge fuse which can be replaced if it blows. Replacement fuses are available separately.

Does it work with Schuko plugs?

The converter accepts standard 2-pin Europlugs (Type C) and most Schuko plugs (Type F), provided the Schuko plug does not rely on side earthing contacts for grounding. Devices requiring earth grounding may not be safely compatible.
