Description

The Knightsbridge SN1700 is a 35mm single pattress box moulded from white thermoset resin with an integrated earth terminal and fixing lugs. The 86x86mm faceplate footprint matches the standard UK single-gang size, and the 40mm overall depth provides 35mm of cable space behind the accessory faceplate once fitted. The box fits cavity walls, stud partitions and solid walls with appropriate chasing.

Designed primarily for use with Knightsbridge Square Edge (SN) series accessories, the SN1700 also accepts any standard UK single-gang socket, switch or dimmer that requires a 35mm back box depth. The earth terminal provides a termination point for protective earth conductors without needing a separate connector block. The square-edge profile sits flush with plasterboard and plaster finishes, reducing visible gaps between the wall surface and the accessory plate.

The thermoset resin construction resists impact better than standard thermoplastic boxes and carries third-party tested anti-microbial properties to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations including living rooms, bedrooms, offices and hallways. Knightsbridge backs the box with a 25-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

The 35mm depth provides more cable space behind the accessory plate, making wiring easier on complex installations or where multiple cables enter the box. The 25mm depth is shallower and suits simple single-cable runs where wall depth is limited.

Yes. The 86x86mm faceplate footprint is the standard UK single-gang size. Any socket, switch or dimmer designed for UK single-gang installation will fit this box, not just Knightsbridge Square Edge accessories.

Where can this be installed under IP20 rating?

IP20 means the box is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be used in bathrooms within zones 1 or 2, outdoors, or anywhere moisture or direct water contact is expected.
