Description

The Knightsbridge 20A junction box provides six brass terminals inside an 89mm diameter white thermoset resin casing rated IP20. The box handles circuits up to 20A at 230V and includes selective entry points around the perimeter, allowing cables to be fed in from any angle without pre-drilling every knockout.

Designed for domestic and light commercial wiring — lighting circuits, ring mains, fused spurs — the box suits locations where multiple cables need to be joined or branched without visible termination at a switch or socket. The 26mm projection keeps the box shallow enough to fit within standard stud walls and ceiling voids without interfering with plasterboard installation. The selective entry knockouts can be removed as needed, leaving unused entry points sealed.

The thermoset resin casing resists impact and thermal stress better than standard thermoplastic enclosures, maintaining dimensional stability in loft spaces and walls where temperature variation is wider. The brass terminals accept cable cores up to 2.5mm² and can be used with solid or stranded conductors. The white finish allows the box to be left visible in utility areas or painted over once fitted behind plasterboard.

Frequently Asked

What current rating does this junction box support?

The box is rated at 20A on 230V AC circuits, making it suitable for standard lighting circuits, ring mains and fused spurs. Do not exceed the 20A rating or use the box for circuits requiring a higher amperage.

What cable sizes fit the terminals?

The six brass terminals accept cable cores up to 2.5mm² cross-sectional area, suitable for both solid and stranded conductors used in UK domestic wiring.

What does selective entry mean?

Selective entry means the box has multiple knockout points around the perimeter that can be removed individually as needed, rather than having fixed cable entry points. This allows you to route cables in from any angle without pre-drilling every entry.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the box is designed for dry indoor locations only. For outdoor or bathroom installations, a higher IP-rated enclosure is required.
