Description
Our Vintage design is a traditional rug in beige and cream, with a softly faded finish that gives it the look of a well loved piece. A cream centre is filled with scrolling stems, leaves and flower heads around a small central motif, framed by a fine dark line and then a wide beige border of larger blooms, picked out here and there in rust, slate grey and a hint of lilac. It is machine made from polyester in a high density weave, and the textured pile adds depth to the surface and a pleasing feel underfoot.
We think of it first as a hallway rug, and the two runners suit that well: a 60 by 230cm runner for a narrower hall and an 80 by 300cm runner for a long one. The 80 by 150cm size sits neatly inside a front door or at the foot of a staircase, while 120 by 170cm and 160 by 230cm work in front of a sofa in a living room. The largest, at 200 by 290cm, is generous enough to sit under a sofa and an armchair together.
The high density weave means a closely packed pile, which keeps the pattern clear and gives the rug a substantial feel rather than a thin one. The textured pile means a softly varied surface instead of a flat, smooth one, which suits the faded vintage look. Before you choose, measure the floor and allow a border of bare floor around the edges.
