Description
The ESP Aperta is an IP55-rated push to exit button with a green mushroom head, designed for outdoor door release installations where weatherproofing is required. The 92mm square white plastic housing protects the switching mechanism from rain and dust ingress, allowing the button to be mounted on external walls adjacent to gates, garage doors, secured exits and outdoor access control points.
The mushroom head design provides a large 55mm-diameter push surface that's easy to locate and operate in low light or when wearing gloves, making it suitable for emergency exit routes, industrial settings and secured gates where quick release is needed. The raised green button sits proud of the white faceplate with 'PRESS TO EXIT' text moulded into the plastic above and below the button, giving clear visual instruction without needing separate signage.
The IP55 rating protects against low-pressure water jets from any direction and dust ingress that could interfere with the switching mechanism, making the button suitable for UK outdoor installation in rain, though it should not be submerged or mounted where it will sit in standing water. The housing measures 92mm square and projects 95mm from the mounting surface, with four corner screw holes visible in the white plastic faceplate. The button wiring terminates inside the weatherproof rear housing.

Frequently Asked
What does IP55 mean for outdoor use?
IP55 means the button is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor mounting in typical UK weather conditions including rain, but it should not be submerged or installed where standing water can accumulate around the housing.
What is the button wired to?
The button provides a momentary contact closure when pressed, which signals an access control system, magnetic lock controller or electric strike to release the door or gate. The wiring terminates inside the rear housing and connects to the control panel according to the system manufacturer's instructions.
Can it be used for emergency exits?
Yes. The large mushroom head and clear 'PRESS TO EXIT' text make it suitable for emergency exit routes where building users need to trigger door release quickly without needing keys or codes. Check local fire safety regulations for specific emergency exit requirements in your installation.
What surface can it be mounted on?
The button can be surface-mounted on brick, block, timber or metal using appropriate fixings through the four corner screw holes. The mounting surface should be flat and weatherproof, with cable entry through the rear of the housing.
