Description
The Aperta IP RFID tags are 13.56MHz proximity keyfobs supplied in a 10-pack, designed for use with ESP Aperta IP access control systems. Each tag is moulded in a black teardrop-shaped housing with a metal keyring loop at the top, allowing it to be attached to keychains, lanyards or belt clips.
These tags operate on the 13.56MHz frequency band, which is the standard for most modern proximity access control systems in commercial, residential and institutional settings. When presented to a compatible RFID reader, the tag transmits its unique identifier, granting access if the tag has been enrolled in the system. The tags are passive, requiring no batteries — they draw power from the reader's electromagnetic field when brought into range.
Each tag in the pack carries a unique ID code that must be enrolled into the access control panel before use. The black moulded housing is sealed to protect the internal antenna and chip from moisture and impact in typical keychain use. At approximately 6.4g per tag, they add minimal weight to a keychain and the teardrop profile fits comfortably in a pocket without sharp edges or bulk.
The 10-pack format suits small residential installations, office access control rollouts where multiple users need tags, or replenishment stock for existing Aperta IP systems. Each tag measures approximately 35mm x 45mm, making it smaller than a typical car key fob.

Frequently Asked
Are these compatible with other 13.56MHz systems?
These tags are designed specifically for ESP Aperta IP access control systems. While they operate on the 13.56MHz frequency, compatibility with other manufacturers' systems is not guaranteed due to differences in encoding and protocol. Check your access control panel documentation or contact ESP before purchasing for use with non-Aperta systems.
Do the tags need batteries?
No. These are passive RFID tags that draw power wirelessly from the reader's electromagnetic field when presented. There are no batteries to replace and no on-off switch.
How are the tags enrolled into the system?
Each tag carries a unique ID code. Enrollment is done through the Aperta IP access control panel, either via the panel's keypad interface or the associated software. See the product manual (linked in the Downloads tab) for the exact enrollment procedure for your Aperta IP model.
What is the read range?
Typical read range for 13.56MHz proximity tags is 30-100mm, depending on the reader model and environmental factors. The tag must be presented close to the reader — it is not a long-range UHF tag.
