Description

The ESP Aperta is a single-door audio entry kit comprising a white wall-mounted handset, a weatherproof grey outdoor door panel with illuminated call button, and a plug-in power supply. The system uses a 2-wire connection between the handset and door panel, simplifying installation compared to multi-wire systems and allowing cable runs up to 100 metres without signal degradation.

Designed for residential front doors, side gates and small commercial premises requiring visitor screening without video, the Aperta provides two-way audio communication between the outdoor panel and the indoor handset. The handset includes a lock release button that can trigger an electric door strike or magnetic lock when wired to a compatible mechanism. The outdoor panel is rated weatherproof for UK exterior installation, with a robust ABS housing that resists impact and UV degradation.

The handset mounts to a standard UK single-gang back box or directly to a wall surface, with the coiled cable giving reach to answer calls from a standing or seated position. The door panel requires a surface-mount base plate fixed with screws and wall plugs, and can be positioned at standard door-frame height or lowered for wheelchair access. The included power supply connects to a standard UK 230V mains socket and provides regulated output to both the handset and the door panel via the 2-wire bus.

What cable is needed between the handset and door panel?

The system uses a 2-core cable, typically 2 x 0.5mm² or 2 x 0.75mm² bell wire or alarm cable. Standard twin-core doorbell cable works for most residential installations. The maximum cable run is 100 metres.

Can it control an electric door lock?

Yes. The handset includes a lock release button that can trigger an electric strike or magnetic lock when wired to a compatible mechanism. The lock mechanism requires separate power and installation — the Aperta provides the trigger signal only.

Is the outdoor panel weatherproof?

Yes. The door panel is rated for UK exterior use and will withstand rain, frost and direct sunlight. It should be mounted under a porch or overhang where possible to extend the lifespan of the call button and speaker grille.

What's included in the kit?

The kit includes the white handset with coiled cable, the grey outdoor door panel, the plug-in power supply, mounting screws and a basic wiring diagram. Cable between the handset and door panel is not included and must be purchased separately based on the required run length.
