Description

The ESP Aperta is a 12V DC boxed power supply delivering 1.5A output with an integrated battery backup facility, designed for access control, alarm systems, CCTV cameras and other low-voltage security installations requiring uninterrupted power during mains failure. The unit accepts 100-240V AC mains input and converts to dual 12V DC outputs: a 1.5A fail-safe/secure output and a 1A auxiliary output.

Housed in a vented white plastic enclosure measuring 129 x 73 x 50mm, the Aperta mounts inside control cabinets or junction boxes where space is limited. The fail-safe/secure output maintains 1.5A during both normal operation and battery backup mode, providing continuity for door strikes, magnetic locks, motorised gates and camera systems. The 1A auxiliary output supports secondary loads such as keypads, sensors or LED indicators. A rechargeable 12V battery (sold separately) slots into the unit and is maintained by the internal charging circuit.

The vented casing includes snap-fit mounting tabs on both side panels, allowing the PSU to be fixed to a DIN rail or screwed directly to a mounting surface. Terminal blocks on the top edge accept mains input, DC outputs and battery connections. The universal 100-240V AC input eliminates the need for voltage selection switches and works across different regions without modification.

Frequently Asked

What battery does this require?

The Aperta accepts a standard 12V rechargeable lead-acid or gel battery. The specific capacity (measured in Ah) depends on how long backup runtime is needed during mains failure. A 7Ah battery is typical for most access control installations. The battery is sold separately.

What's the difference between the two outputs?

The 1.5A fail-safe/secure output maintains full power during both mains operation and battery backup, making it suitable for door locks, strikes and cameras that must remain powered during outages. The 1A auxiliary output is for secondary loads like keypads or sensors that draw less current.

Can it be mounted on DIN rail?

Yes. The side panels include snap-fit mounting tabs compatible with standard 35mm DIN rail. The unit can also be screw-fixed directly to a mounting surface using the same tabs.

Does it charge the backup battery automatically?

Yes. The internal charging circuit maintains the connected battery whenever mains power is present, ensuring the battery is ready to take over during an outage.
