Description
This is a full-size spherical lamp on an E27 screw cap, with a clear body and a warm output that settles at 2700K. It draws 6.5W and returns 806 lumens, which is enough to carry a small room on its own. It dims, provided the dimmer it runs on is rated for LED loads. We stock it as our standing choice for fittings where the lamp is meant to be seen rather than hidden.
Bare pendants and open shades are the obvious homes for it, along with ceiling roses, cage fittings and wall lights that leave the lamp on view. The warm white sits comfortably in sitting rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and it reads kindly against wood, brass and painted walls. Because the light goes out in every direction rather than downward in a pool, a cluster of these over a dining table gives an even wash instead of hard spots. It suits anyone who wants the fitting to look considered when the light is off as well as on.
The clear finish is the point of it: nothing is diffused, so the fitting stays visually light and the lamp itself becomes part of the look. Dust shows more readily on a clear body than an opal one, so switch off, let it cool and go over it with a dry cloth whenever you clean the shade around it. It is a lamp for dry rooms indoors, running straight off the mains through the fitting it sits in, and it carries a three year warranty. A suitable dimmer is needed but is not part of the purchase; if you are unsure what yours will run, ask us and we will point you at something that behaves. We would happily fit one anywhere a globe is called for.

Frequently Asked
How big is this globe?
It measures 120mm across the sphere, with an overall height of 170mm including the E27 cap, so allow room in enclosed shades.
How bright is 6.5W in practice?
It produces 806 lumens, which is the sort of output people expect from a traditional 60W globe lamp, at a fraction of the load.
Will it work on my existing dimmer?
It is dimmable, but the dimmer must be suitable for LED loads. No dimmer is supplied with the lamp. Older resistive dimmers made for filament lamps often flicker or buzz, so check the dimmer's LED rating first.
What does 2700K look like?
It is a warm white, close to the yellow-toned light of an old incandescent lamp, and it flatters warm paint colours, wood and brass.
How long is it rated to last?
The rated average life is 15,000 hours, and the lamp carries a three year warranty.
Can I use it in a fitting where the lamp points sideways or up?
Yes. It emits light all round rather than in one direction, so it performs the same whichever way the fitting holds it.
