Description

A round globe lamp with a clear finish, 80mm across, and an E27 screw cap. Nothing sits behind opal here, so it suits fittings where the lamp itself is part of the look rather than something to tuck away. Colour is warm white at 2700K, the gentle, slightly golden end of white, and it draws only 6.5W. It dims, provided the circuit has a dimmer made for LED loads; a dimmer is not supplied with it.

We reach for a clear globe in open pendants, in bare flex drops over a kitchen island, and in cluster fittings where several lamps hang at staggered heights. It works equally well in table lamps and wall lights with open shades, and in a hallway pendant seen from below. Because the light comes off the whole ball rather than a single face, open shades fill evenly instead of showing a bright core. It suits anyone who likes a lamp on show but wants the low running cost of LED, and the dimming gives you a bright kitchen in the morning and something much quieter late in the evening.

The clear finish keeps the outline sharp against a dark shade or an exposed flex, and it will show dust sooner than an opal lamp would. When it has cooled, lift it out and wipe it with a dry lint-free cloth, keeping anything damp away from the cap. It is meant for ordinary household fittings in dry rooms indoors.
