Description
This is a round globe lamp in an opal finish, made for fittings where the bulb itself is on show. It draws 6.5W and puts out 806 lumens of warm white light, sent out all the way around the globe rather than thrown forward, so it reads as a softly glowing ball instead of a hard bright point. It dims, though it needs a compatible dimmer to do that smoothly, and no dimmer is supplied with it. The cap is the common larger screw type, E27.
At 80mm across it is a modest globe, so it suits pendants on a short drop, bare flex clusters over a kitchen island, table and floor lamps with open shades, and wall lights where the lamp peeps out below the shade. We reach for it where a clear filament lamp would be too glary at eye level but a hidden lamp would look plain. The warm white tone leans towards the yellow end, which sits well in sitting rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and holds that warmth as you dim it down for the evening.
The opal covering spreads the light evenly across the whole surface, so you see one steady glow with no bright spots showing through. Because that surface is doing the work, it is worth keeping clean: turn the light off, wait until the lamp is cool to touch, then wipe the globe with a dry cloth, leaving solvents and damp cloths well alone. It carries a three year warranty. We stock this shape for customers who want the look of a period globe with a modern draw on the meter, and we would happily put a row of them in matching pendants over a dining table, where the round profile repeats nicely along the length.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it compared with an old filament bulb?
It gives 806 lumens, which is close to the output people remember from a 60W filament bulb, from just 6.5W.
Will it work on my existing dimmer?
It is dimmable, but it needs a dimmer rated for LED loads. An older dimmer built for filament lamps may flicker or buzz, so check the dimmer's LED compatibility and minimum load. No dimmer is included.
What size is it and will it fit a small shade?
The globe is 80mm in diameter and 111mm tall overall, so it is far smaller than a decorative oversized globe and clears most standard pendant shades.
What colour is the light?
2700K warm white, a soft yellow-toned light suited to living spaces rather than task areas.
Does it spread light in all directions?
Yes. The opal globe emits through a full 360 degrees, which makes it a good choice for open fittings and multi-arm lights where the lamp is visible from several angles.
How long should it last?
It has an average rated life of 15,000 hours and comes with a three year warranty.
