Description

A round globe lamp with a clear finish, sitting at the smaller end of the globe family at 80mm across, so it reads as a neat sphere rather than a big decorative orb. The cap is an E27 screw fitting, and light leaves it in all directions, which suits open fittings where the lamp itself is part of the look. Output is 806 lumens drawn from 6.5W, in a cool white that sits closer to daylight than to candlelight. It dims, provided the dimmer you are using is a compatible one; no dimmer is supplied with it.

We reach for this where a fitting leaves the lamp on show: a clear pendant, a cluster over an island, an open framed wall light, or a shade that stops short of the cap. The cooler tone keeps whites looking clean, so kitchens, utility rooms, home offices and workshops all take it well. In bedrooms and snugs we would usually go warmer, unless you are matching lamps already in the room. Being dimmable, it also earns its place where one space does two jobs, bright for cooking and prep, then wound down for eating.

The clear finish leaves nothing to soften the light source, so it belongs in fittings that frame the sphere openly rather than half conceal it.
