Description

The LYYT RGB LED strip L connector is a solderless corner connector for 12mm RGB LED tape, allowing the tape to turn through 90° without cutting and re-terminating. Each connector is a white polycarbonate housing with four spring-loaded contact pins that grip the copper pads on the LED tape when the strip is inserted and the connector is clipped shut. The pack contains five connectors.

Designed for installations where LED tape runs along skirting boards, under kitchen cabinets, around alcoves or picture frames, the L connector removes the need to solder wires at each corner. The tape slides into one leg of the L-shaped housing, turns through the internal right angle, and exits from the perpendicular leg. The four pins maintain separate contact with the R, G, B and common ground traces on the tape, preserving colour accuracy and intensity through the corner.

Each connector measures 32 x 32mm with a 5mm profile, making it small enough to tuck into most LED tape channels and extrusions. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments. Kitchens, living rooms, retail displays, exhibition stands. But not bathrooms or outdoor installations. The connectors can also be used as straight in-line couplers when an angled joint is not needed, providing flexibility when extending tape runs or repairing a cut section.

Does this work with single-colour LED tape?

No. This connector is designed specifically for 12mm RGB LED tape with four separate traces (red, green, blue, common). Single-colour tape uses a different contact arrangement and will not align correctly with the four pins in this connector.

Is soldering required?

No. The connector uses spring-loaded pins that grip the copper contact pads on the LED tape when the housing is clipped shut. The tape is inserted into each leg of the L-shaped housing and the connector snaps closed to hold it in place.

Can it be used as a straight connector?

Yes. If you need to join two lengths of tape in a straight line rather than at a corner, the same connector can be used by inserting both tape ends into opposing legs of the L-shape, effectively using it as an in-line coupler.

What IP rating does it carry?

IP20. The connector is suitable for dry indoor use only. Kitchens, living rooms, retail interiors. But not for bathrooms, outdoor installations, or anywhere exposed to moisture.
