Description

The LYYT 3m RGB LED strip extension lead connects sections of 10mm or 12mm RGB LED tape using 4-pin connectors that carry the blue, red, green and positive voltage lines. Rated at 2A maximum current, the lead allows RGB strips to be positioned up to 3 metres apart without additional power injection, or can be used to run cable from a controller to a strip mounted in a harder-to-reach location.

The extension lead suits installations where RGB tape needs to span across gaps in cabinetry, around corners where rigid tape cannot bend, or between separate runs on opposite walls. When used with the RGB amplifier (153.771UK, sold separately), multiple extension leads can be daisy-chained to support installations drawing more than 2A total, allowing longer continuous runs without voltage drop or colour shift along the tape.

The 4-pin connectors clip onto the copper pads on standard RGB LED strip without soldering, matching the B, R, G, V+ configuration used across most 12V RGB tape. The 13mm cable width and white PVC insulation keep the extension lead discreet when run inside ceiling voids, behind coving or within cabinet plinths. At 80g, the lead remains flexible enough to route through tight spaces without kinking or pulling connectors loose.

Specification
Current rating 2A max. per lead

Frequently Asked

What RGB LED tape width does it support?

The 4-pin connectors fit both 10mm and 12mm wide RGB LED strip. The connector pin spacing matches the standard copper pad layout used on most 12V RGB tape sold for residential and retail installation.

Can multiple extension leads be joined together?

Yes, but the 2A current limit applies to the total load across all connected leads. For installations drawing more than 2A, use the LYYT RGB amplifier (153.771UK, sold separately) to inject additional power and prevent voltage drop along the run.

Does the lead require soldering?

No. The 4-pin connectors clip directly onto the copper pads on RGB LED strip without soldering. Ensure the strip pads are clean and the connector polarity matches the B, R, G, V+ markings on the tape before clipping.

Is the cable suitable for outdoor use?

The extension lead is designed for indoor installation. The white PVC insulation is not rated for UV exposure or direct weather contact. For outdoor RGB installations, use IP-rated connectors and cable designed for external environments.
