Description

The LYYT RGB controller connects between a 12V DC power supply and RGB LED tape, allowing wireless colour, brightness and mode selection via a handheld 24-button infrared remote. The controller outputs up to 2A per channel across red, green and blue lines, supporting RGB LED tape runs up to approximately 5m in total length depending on the tape's wattage per metre.

Designed for accent lighting installations in alcoves, under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, behind TVs and media units, and small signage or display applications, the controller provides 16 preset static colours selected by individual buttons on the remote, plus four automatic colour-change modes (flash, strobe, fade, smooth). Brightness can be adjusted on the remote using the up/down buttons, and the controller remembers the last-used setting after power-off.

The controller measures 50 x 35 x 25mm and includes two mounting points for screw-fixing to a wall, inside a cabinet or onto the back of furniture. The IR receiver on the controller picks up the remote signal from up to 10m away in direct line of sight, making it suitable for ceiling or high-mounted installations controlled from floor level. The white plastic housing blends into most interior surfaces when installed out of sight. The remote runs on a single CR2025 coin cell battery and weighs 21g.

Frequently Asked

What length of LED tape can this controller handle?

The controller outputs 2A per channel across red, green and blue. If your RGB LED tape draws 1A per metre, the controller can handle up to 2m. If the tape draws 0.4A per metre, it can handle approximately 5m. Check your LED tape specification for current draw per metre and calculate accordingly.

Does the controller need a separate power supply?

Yes. The controller sits between your 12V DC power supply and the LED tape. The power supply connects to the controller via a 2.1mm DC socket, and the LED tape connects to the output terminals on the controller. A suitable 12V power supply is sold separately.

Will the remote work through cabinet doors or walls?

No. The remote uses infrared line-of-sight communication and requires a clear path to the IR receiver on the controller. It will not work through solid materials like wood, metal or plasterboard.

Does the controller remember the last colour and brightness setting?

Yes. The controller stores the last-used colour, brightness and mode in memory, so when power is restored after being switched off, it resumes the previous setting rather than defaulting to white or full brightness.
