Description

The LYYT 5m RGB LED strip extension lead connects sections of RGB LED tape using 4-pin connectors (B, R, G, V+), rated at 2A maximum current. The lead bridges gaps between tape runs or extends an installation beyond the standard 5m reel length, supporting both 10mm and 12mm RGB LED strip widths.

Designed for residential, retail and event installations where RGB LED tape needs to run across longer distances or around corners that would otherwise require cutting and re-wiring. The 5m cable length allows tape to be routed behind coving, along skirting or across ceiling voids without needing junction boxes or soldered joints. For runs drawing more than 2A total current, the lead pairs with the LYYT RGB amplifier (153.771UK, sold separately) to maintain consistent brightness across extended tape lengths.

The 4-pin connector format matches standard RGB LED tape terminations, with pins corresponding to blue, red, green and positive voltage channels. The cable itself measures 13mm wide and 6mm thick, coiling down to a compact 90g bundle when not in use. The grey PVC sheath protects the four internal conductors and provides some flex resistance when routed through tight spaces.

The 4-pin connectors fit both 10mm and 12mm RGB LED strip tape. The connector housings are sized to accommodate the standard pin spacing on both widths.

What happens if my run draws more than 2A?

Use the LYYT RGB amplifier (153.771UK, sold separately) to boost the signal and power for longer tape runs. The amplifier allows multiple 5m tape sections to run at full brightness without voltage drop. Connect the extension lead between the amplifier output and the next tape section.

Can this be used outdoors?

The extension lead itself is not IP-rated. If used outdoors, it must be protected from direct water exposure inside conduit or an IP-rated housing. The connectors are not weatherproof and will corrode if left exposed to moisture.

What's included in the box?

One 5m extension lead with 4-pin connectors at both ends, plus two additional loose 4-pin connectors for joining to cut LED tape sections.
