Description

The LYYT RGB LED tape controller manages 12V RGB LED tape through a 44-button infrared remote control, providing 20 pre-set static colours, 6 dynamic chase modes, and manual RGB colour mixing with 6 memory banks. The controller accepts 12V DC power through a 2.1mm socket and outputs up to 2A per channel across separate red, green and blue channels, allowing it to drive up to 6A total load or approximately 5 metres of standard-density RGB LED tape.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting, cove lighting, display cases and accent lighting in residential and light commercial settings, the controller mounts to walls or surfaces using two fixing points on the body. The IR remote operates up to 10m line-of-sight, removing the need to reach the controller once installed. The six chase modes include colour change, colour fade and strobe effects, each with adjustable speed control to set the animation tempo to match the room or application.

The manual RGB adjustment function uses three buttons to independently control red, green and blue intensity, creating custom colours beyond the 20 pre-sets. Six memory banks (DIY1-DIY6) store custom colours for recall without re-mixing. The controller body measures 35 x 50 x 25mm and weighs 30g, while the remote measures 125 x 55 x 8mm and weighs 33g including the CR2025 battery.

Frequently Asked

What length of LED tape can this controller drive?

The controller provides 2A per channel across red, green and blue, totaling 6A maximum output. Most standard-density 12V RGB LED tape draws approximately 1.2A per metre, so this controller can drive up to 5 metres of tape. Higher-density tape will reduce the maximum length proportionally.

Does the remote need line-of-sight to the controller?

Yes. This is an infrared (IR) remote, not RF or Bluetooth, so the remote must have a clear line-of-sight to the controller body within the 10m range. The remote will not operate through walls or cupboard doors.

What are the DIY memory banks for?

The six DIY buttons (DIY1-DIY6) store custom colours created using the manual RGB adjustment buttons. Once a colour is mixed using the red, green and blue intensity controls, pressing and holding a DIY button saves that colour to that memory slot for instant recall later.

Can this controller be used with 24V LED tape?

No. This controller is rated for 12V DC input and 12V LED tape only. Using it with 24V tape will result in the tape running at half brightness and incorrect colour mixing. For 24V tape, a separate 24V-rated controller is required.
