Description

The LYYT mounting clips are spring-steel fixing brackets designed to secure recessed aluminium LED tape profiles into plasterboard, MDF or timber substrates. Each clip is a formed steel channel with a central aperture for screw-fixing and two spring arms that grip the underside of the profile once pushed into the recessed slot. The 10-pack is sufficient to mount a 2-metre profile run at standard 200mm spacing.

Designed for recessed LED tape installations where the profile sits flush with the ceiling or wall surface, the clips eliminate the need for surface-mounted screws or adhesive that would be visible from below. The installer routs or cuts a channel into the substrate, positions the clips along the channel at 150-250mm intervals, screws them into place, then pushes the aluminium profile down into the clips. The spring arms hold the profile firmly without needing adhesive, and the clip remains hidden behind the profile edge once installed.

The clips are formed from galvanised spring steel to resist corrosion in humid environments such as kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories where recessed LED tape is commonly used for accent or cove lighting. Each clip weighs approximately 2g and measures roughly 25mm x 15mm, fitting the standard rebate on LYYT recessed profiles. The central screw aperture accepts standard wood screws or self-tappers for MDF or plasterboard fixing.

Are these compatible with all LYYT recessed profiles?

These clips are designed for LYYT recessed aluminium profiles with a standard rebate on the underside. Check the profile cross-section in the LYYT technical documentation to confirm compatibility before ordering.

How many clips are needed per metre of profile?

A typical spacing is 200mm, which requires 5 clips per metre. For longer unsupported spans or heavier diffuser materials, reduce the spacing to 150mm. A 10-pack therefore covers 2 metres at standard spacing.

Can these be used in plasterboard ceilings?

Yes. Use self-tapping screws or plasterboard fixings rated for the load. The profile itself is lightweight so the clips do not require significant pull-out strength once the profile is seated.

Do the clips work with surface-mounted profiles?

No. These are spring-retention clips designed specifically for recessed profiles where the clip grips the underside rebate. Surface-mounted profiles use adhesive tape or screw-through flanges depending on the model.
