Description

The LYYT RGBW controller is a sound-activated LED strip driver compatible with both RGB and RGBW tape running from 5V to 24V DC supplies. The unit accepts up to 16A total input and outputs 5A per channel for RGB mode or 4A per channel for RGBW mode, controlling colour and brightness through screw terminals labeled W, B, G, R and V+. A 24-key RF remote transmits on 433.92MHz, allowing wireless control without line-of-sight.

Designed for architectural accent lighting, bar and club installations, stage backdrops and signage where colour needs to react to music or ambient sound, the controller offers three sound-activated sequences with adjustable sensitivity via a 3.5mm mono jack audio input or the built-in microphone. The unit also provides eight static colour presets, three automatic colour-change sequences with speed adjustment, and a colour scroll mode selecting from 1,024 colours which can be saved as a DIY preset. Brightness dimming works across all modes.

The white polycarbonate housing measures 75 x 43 x 20mm and weighs 84g, small enough to conceal behind architectural features or inside signage enclosures. Power can be supplied via the DC5521 barrel jack or directly to the screw terminals, and the controller switches between RGB and RGBW modes via an onboard selector. The RF remote runs on a CR2025 lithium cell (supplied) and does not require batteries to be changed frequently under normal use.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between RGB and RGBW mode?

RGB mode controls three-colour LED tape (red, green, blue) with 5A output per channel. RGBW mode controls four-colour tape (red, green, blue, white) with 4A output per channel. The controller has a physical selector switch to change between the two modes.

Does the sound activation work without connecting an audio cable?

Yes. The controller has a built-in microphone for sound activation, so it will react to ambient sound in the room without needing to connect the 3.5mm audio input. Connecting a line-level audio source via the 3.5mm jack typically provides more consistent triggering than relying on the microphone alone.

What voltage LED tape does this support?

The controller accepts 5V, 12V or 24V DC input and will drive LED tape of the same voltage. Match the tape voltage to your power supply voltage. The controller does not convert voltage — if you supply 12V DC, connect 12V LED tape.

What's the maximum length of LED tape this can control?

The maximum tape length depends on the tape's current draw per metre. For example, if your RGBW tape draws 1A per metre per channel, the 4A-per-channel limit in RGBW mode supports up to 4 metres. Check your tape's specification and calculate total current draw to avoid exceeding the controller's output rating.
