Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained?

A maintained fitting stays lit in normal use and continues on battery during a power cut. A non-maintained fitting is off normally and only switches on when the mains fails. The range includes both, and several models cover either mode.

Which fittings count as exit signs here?

The exit signs are LED units in surface, recessed and hanging forms, supplied with running-man and arrow legends pointing up, down, left or right. Spare legend plates are also available to change the direction shown.

How long do the emergency lights stay on?

The battery conversion kits here are rated for three hours, including the LED packs that add backup to existing downlights. Runtime on the standalone fittings varies by model, so check the individual product details before ordering.

What is a self-test fitting?

Self-test models run their own periodic battery and lamp checks automatically, which cuts down on manual testing. Several downlights, bulkheads, twin spots and exit signs here offer this feature.

Can these be used in damp or outdoor areas?

Some can. Bulkheads, battens and twin spots rated IP65 suit wet and exterior settings, while IP20 downlights and exit signs are for dry indoor use. Fixed wiring should be installed by a qualified electrician.
